Emerge offers a variety of
educational manuals to use for providing abuser services
and for program administration. Some materials are offered at
specific trainings as a part of the training fee. If you have any
additional questions about these materials, please contact our office by
phone or e-mail.
Program Manual
for First & Second Stage Groups:
This program manual
outlines the entire Emerge model including specific educational
presentations, individual activities and guidance on running exercises.
It also gives
some supplemental information on writing reports to referral sources,
conducting partner contacts and explains our philosophy of providing abuser
education. The Emerge model is composed of a 40-session curriculum, but
can be adapted to additional or fewer sessions and can be used in
addition to other abuser education models.
This manual is
provided to each participant during the introductory training. Due to
the challenge of intervening in domestic violence, we recommended
that people attend an Emerge training to fully understand this manual.
If it is difficult
to attend an Emerge training due to travel expenses, it may be helpful
to subscribe to our e-mail newsletter (subscribe link at bottom of this
page) to learn of trainings coming to
your area.
Program Manual
Supplemental CDRom:
This CDRom is a PC compatible computer
program which provides examples of group sessions using the
Emerge model. It demonstrates activities such as "check-ins" and
specific exercises. This can be an invaluable tool to quickly review
Emerge activities, refresh information learned during an Emerge training
or to help new group leaders understand the model.
COMBINATION PROGRAM
MANUAL / CDROM:
If you are interested in
purchasing both the Emerge Program Manual and Supplemental CDRom, we offer the
option to purchase both at the same time for a reduced price.
Partner Contact Manual:
As a part of conducting abuser education
services in Massachusetts, all state certified programs are required to attempt
a phone contact with the abuser's current partner and ex-partners. This manual
outlines the method Emerge uses for these contacts and includes more detail than
what is found in the First & Second Stage Program Manual. It contains the partner
contact form that is in the appendix of the program manual and includes details on
the purpose, philosophy, safety concerns, logistics and the details behind
actually making a partner contact.
Policy and Procedure
Manual for Group Leaders:
For additional
information on Emerge's program orientation procedures for new clients,
specific administrative details on collecting group fees and dealing
with resistant clients, and some ethical considerations for group
leaders, this manual is a critical addition to any newly established
abuser education program. This manual may also be helpful for
established programs to learn which Emerge administrative functions
might benefit their agency.
This manual is an adaptation of the Emerge program
manual on how to develop and facilitate prevention and intervention
groups for adolescent perpetrators. It includes specific information on
working with this age group in a school setting.
