Happy Holidays!
Founded in 1977, Emerge was the nation’s first
batterer intervention program and serves as a
national training and resource center on batterer
interventions and domestic violence danger
assessment.
In this issue we will be detailing some of our
upcoming events and trainings. In future issues we
will describe upcoming trainings both in the Boston
area, in different parts of the United States,
Canada and around the world. We will also be having
the occasional article on various intervention
techniques and group strategies.
Please be sure to let us know if you are
interested in continuing to receive this newsletter,
have any specific questions, or would like to be
removed from our list.

Upcoming Boston Area Trainings |
 |
|
Emerge offers trainings for those who are
interested in working with people who are
abusive in relationships. We have
introductory three-day trainings, as well as
advanced trainings for people who have
experience conducting group sessions. Our
next three-day training is coming up on
February 8- 10, 2006, while our Advanced
training is being held on March 16-17, 2006.

Volunteers and Interns Needed |
 |
|
Emerge has volunteer and internship
positions available for a variety of
different tasks. We are currently doing data
entry for all of our case files in order to
conduct statistical research, need people to
conduct telephone interviews with agencies
and individuals who work with abusers
throughout the nation, have opportunities to
work directly with clients, and have other
exciting ways to learn more about batterer
intervention.

Bermuda Adolescent Training |
 |
|
On December 15-16, 2005, Emerge travelled to
Bermuda to train counselors to run
adolescent perpetrator groups. We brought
with us our new curriculum for ages 13-16,
and also trained on our other curriculm for
working with ages 16-19. We currently are
selling our curriculum for working with
16-19 year olds, and more details on our
13-16 year old curriculum will follow in a
future newsletter. If you are interested in
having Emerge conduct an adolescent training
in your area, contact Ted German, our
director of training at 617-547-9879.
