"Is It Abuse?"

A Conference on the Intersections Between Therapy and Abuser Education

Offered yearly, Emerge has developed this one-day conference in order to reach out to the therapeutic community in the hope that abusers in therapy can benefit from both services as much as possible.

Topics Include:

  • Becoming more informed about treatment goals, techniques and engagement strategies used in abuser education programs

  • Recognizing how therapy and abuser education can support each other

  • Putting theory into practice using role plays and case discussions

  • Discussing a new tool: "The Continuum of Harmful Behavior" which can be used to assess whether a client is an abuser, or is acting in an insensitive and alienating manner toward their family

  • Reviewing tools used in abuser education that may also be useful in therapy

The tuition for this conference is $100 and 6 hours of continuing education credits are offered to participants.

This event is held at the Arlington Hawthorn Suites near the Emerge office.

Emerge offers this training once per year. Check back for future listings. If your agency is interested, we can use this topic as a customized training for your organization. If you are interested in this, please contact Ted German, Emerge's Director of Training.
