Anger Management Program Exercises

The Anger Management Program at Emerge consists of 14 sessions, divided as follows:

  1. The first session involves reviewing the program workbook, the activities and discussing an initial educational lesson.

  2. Four sessions discussing the concept of "Prevention", which is in essence how to prevent anger from building. Each session during this segment addresses physical prevention, emotional prevention, thought prevention and spirit prevention.

  3. Four sessions discussing the concept of "Containment", which is in essence how to contain anger once it starts. Each session during this segment addresses physical containment, emotional containment, thought containment and spiritual containment.

  4. Four sessions discussing the concept of "Resolution," which is in essence how to develop conflict resolution skills and come to resolutions and make amends for choices you have made out of anger and negative self-talk.

  5. One session of review and self-evaluation, reflecting on lessons learned and goals for the future.

Each group or individual session requires participants to complete four workbook exercises, which have a variety of approaches and content. Workbooks are given out during the first session.
